About the RoleBlendid is seeking a strong Mechanical Engineering Director to lead our team of mechanical engineers and technicians. The candidate will solve intricate problems while creating innovative products that are reliable and commercially viable. The role is in-person at our Sunnyvale, CA headquarters and reports to the Head of Engineering.Key Responsibilities- Mentor and lead mechanical engineers to design, prototype, test and manufacture custom parts, assemblies and products- Integrate third-party parts, assemblies or products into Blendid’s products- Build reliable, serviceable, and maintainable products for commercial food preparation- Develop an engineering roadmap aligned to the business roadmap- Own mechanical engineering artifacts (architecture, designs, drawings, specs, manufacturing documentation incl. PDM/PLM) and approvals- Serve as front face for mechanical engineering with internal teams, suppliers, vendors, manufacturers, and investors- Interface with EE, SW, Product, Marketing, and OperationsAbout You- 5+ years of management experience leading engineering teams- Bachelor’s, Master’s or PhD in Engineering (preferably Mechanical)- Experience shipping and managing full product life cycle (concept to EOL)- Strong CAD expertise (ideally SolidWorks)- Experience releasing products via Agile/Arena- Expertise in materials and processes (plastics, metals; ideally in food space)- First principles problem solving; build vs. buy decision-making experience- Broad exposure to thermal (incl. refrigeration), structural, electromechanical- Start-up experience preferred
