Role Description The Open Market Sales Representative is a full-time, on-site role based in Benin City. This position is responsible for driving product availability and visibility in open markets, identifying and onboarding new retail outlets, and managing relationships with existing customers. The role includes visiting market stalls and shops daily, presenting TradeDepot’s offerings, negotiating orders, and ensuring timely follow-up on deliveries and payments. The Open Market Sales Representative will monitor stock levels and sales performance, gather market intelligence, and report insights to the sales leadership team. The role also involves working closely with internal teams to support promotional activities, resolve customer issues, and achieve sales and coverage targets.
Qualifications

  • Strong sales and negotiation skills, with the ability to close deals in open market environments.
  • Customer relationship management skills, including the ability to build trust with retailers and maintain long-term partnerships.
  • Basic data literacy and reporting skills to track sales performance, routes, and customer activity.
  • Knowledge of FMCG or retail distribution processes and familiarity with local markets in Benin City.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to engage diverse customers clearly and respectfully.
  • Proven ability to work independently in the field, manage time effectively, and meet performance targets.
  • Secondary education required; post-secondary or vocational training in Business, Marketing, or related field is an advantage.
  • Previous experience in field sales, merchandising, or route-to-market operations is highly beneficial.
  • Willingness to work primarily on-site in markets and retail locations, and to adapt to a fast-paced, dynamic environment.
