About the position
- Toss's Product Owners belong to a Silo or Team that builds a specific service, and lead its product to success. This role sits within the Global project, where we build products that serve users across multiple countries Toss is expanding into.
- A Silo is a small unit of around 5 people (Product Designer, Engineers, Data Analyst, etc.); a Team is a larger unit for products of higher maturity or complexity. The specific Silo or Team you join within Global will be decided based on your strengths and the project's needs at the time of hiring.
- Toss's Product Owners come from a wide range of backgrounds (startups, founders, large companies, consulting firms) with anywhere from 3 to 10+ years of operating experience.
What you'll do
- Set the half-year goals for your Silo or Team to make the product succeed, and drive them to completion.
- Own the decisions on business direction, revenue, and monetization. Set the goals and strategy yourself, and decide on the "best direction" through enough discussion with your Silo or Team.
- Define the product's core metrics, design the business model, and push action items forward.
- Build hypothesis → run data-driven experiments → validate → iterate, to find Product-Market Fit and continuously sharpen the product.
- Define problems based on customer needs and business impact, break them down into structured tasks, and drive successful outcomes. Communicate complex problems, the proposed solutions, and each stakeholder's role clearly to a wide audience, and lead the team toward long-term goals.
- Act like a CEO of a small startup: find problems yourself, solve them yourself, and experience both success and failure first-hand.
Who we want to work with
- You are a foreign national (non-Korean citizen), with experience working in global markets.
- You have 5+ years of experience as a Product Owner or in an equivalent product role.
- Fintech experience is strongly preferred.
- You have experience defining and solving problems from the customer's perspective.
- You can solve complex problems based on data.
- You have the drive to find solutions in challenging situations, all the way to the end.
- You have experience driving outcomes through an agile process, or have learned from failing at one.
- Founder experience (covering the A to Z of a startup: business planning, product, organization) is a plus.
The Global project
- Global expansion is one of Toss's most important bets. We work across all of the local countries we are entering, not just a single one.
- The team you join will be one of the Global product teams.
- You may work on a cross-country growth product, or a global platform / foundation product that works across all countries.
- This posting is for PO candidates who want to lead product success with a customer-centric mindset, specifically within Toss's Global project.
