The Role
We’re hiring a Senior Engineering Manager to bring seasoned people leadership and strong technical judgment to our product engineering organization. You will start by leading ~3 pods (10–15 engineers total) and grow over time to lead additional pods and managers as the scope expands.
This role is for an experienced leader who loves building strong teams, creating clarity, and driving predictable delivery. You’ll be accountable for the timely execution of quarterly roadmaps, establishing consistent operating practices, and creating a culture of ownership and accountability while still being close enough to the technology to provide guidance on architecture, quality, and reliability.
This is an opportunity to grow into a Director-level position within 2 years.
Location
This is a hybrid role based in NYC.
What You'll Do
Lead & grow teams
- Manage and coach engineers across multiple pods; build a high-trust, high-performance environment.
- Own hiring, onboarding, performance management, feedback, and career development.
- Develop future leaders (senior ICs to leads; leads to managers) as your org scales.
Drive predictable delivery
- Own execution against quarterly roadmaps for your pods: planning, sequencing, tradeoffs, risk management, and delivery.
- Establish and reinforce consistent practices across pods (planning rituals, estimation hygiene, retrospectives, delivery reviews, release confidence).
- Create accountability mechanisms (clear goals, milestones, metrics, ownership, escalation paths).
Bring operational Excellence
- Define and track meaningful metrics (velocity, quality, delivery predictability, engineer satisfaction).
- Create processes that scale i.e. systems and practices designed to work as you manage more pods.
- Communicate progress and risks clearly - up, down, and sideways, so there are no surprises.
Provide technical guidance
- Partner with Chief Architect and Tech Leads on architecture, design reviews, and technical strategy.
- Ensure quality and operational excellence: reliability, observability, incident learnings, and sustainable engineering practices.
- Balance short-term delivery needs with long-term platform health (tech debt, resiliency, security).
Grow & Evolve
- Position yourself to grow into a Director role by demonstrating your ability to scale processes and coach other managers.
- Take on cross-team initiatives that build management and organizational leadership skills.
- Provide input on engineering strategy and organizational structure.

- Experience in fast-moving startup environments preferred
Technical Background
- Strong technical foundation with hands-on experience in our tech stack: React and Next.js (frontend), Node.js and Golang (backend), and AWS
- Comfortable reviewing code, providing architectural guidance, and making technical decisions across both frontend and backend systems
