Here at The Exploration Company, we are developing, producing, and operating Nyx, a modular and reusable space orbital vehicle that can eventually be refuelled in orbit and that can carry cargo - and potentially humans in the longer run.

Our Future Projects unit is dedicated to expanding and complementing these capabilities by conceptualizing and pre-developing new technologies, products and programs.

We are seeking a talented Mechanical Engineer to help us in our mission by contributing to the development of our future projects. As a Mechanical Engineer, you will be in charge of the mechanical sizing and analysis of a variety of new projects, especially within the Launch Systems team. You will work closely with our thermal, CAD, and system engineers to assess feasibility and preliminary sizing of mechanical systems. You will be part of the Launch Systems Team within the Future Systems Department, and will report to the Principal Engineer of the project and the Future Systems Lead.

Key Responsibilities

In your capacity as a Mechanical Engineer, your role will be continuously evolving, but day-to-day your duties will include:

  • Contributing to co-engineering sessions with CAD, thermal and system engineers

  • Determining the mechanical load cases throughout the entire project lifecycle

  • Providing technical solutions to optimize mechanical performance, in collaboration with other subsystems (propulsion, avionics…)

  • Contributing to the creation and improvement of mechanical analysis tools

  • Effectively communicating and providing recommendations through analyses, preparation, and presentation of technical data

  • Preparing technical documentation and participating in design reviews

  • Supporting the commercial and program teams in writing and negotiating proposals for future projects

  • Ownership of future project contract work packages, including activity planning, supplier and subcontractor management and reporting to project management
