At Pennylane, every decision that is not backed by data is likely to be challenged (when data is available of course). The role of the data team is to make this possible by treating data like a production asset, making it available company-wide, and using it proactively to improve Pennylane's user experience.
The Germany team is a fast-growing international frontier for Pennylane - 3 product squads running in parallel, 40+ people across engineering and design and a scaling business team. By joining us as the first Senior Data Analyst working in the Germany team, you'll have the opportunity to build the analytics foundation of a high-growth BU and directly shaping how the team makes decisions and scales.
HOW you will contribute to the company
As a Senior Data Analyst, you will join the Science & Analytics team (20+ people), inside the Data department (50+ people) and you will act as the data partner embedded in the Germany team.
You will proactively use data to identify opportunities to grow our product and business, working across both product squads and business teams (CS, AMs, Ops).
You will be a real sparring partner for Product and Business leaders in Germany, feeding their strategy by anticipating the most important questions, and leveraging your analytical and statistical skills to answer them.
You will steer decision-making through rigorous analyses, navigating ambiguity and collaborating across domains when needed.
You will contribute to our self-service approach to analytics by understanding your partners' needs and promoting a data-driven culture. You will contribute directly to data models in the data warehouse (using dbt).
You will contribute to shaping the Data Engineering roadmap to deliver the best experience for your colleagues on the data platform.

Within one month:

You will get familiar with our stack, and have delivered a few small projects which will give you a concrete taste of our tools & processes.
You will be given time to meet your future stakeholders, and gain a deep knowledge of the Germany team you support.
Within 3 months:
You will be fully in charge of supporting the Germany team, prioritizing your topics with its decision makers.
You will be comfortable with our technical stack (Python, Redshift, dbt, Amplitude).
You will contribute to larger cross-company projects.
Within 6 months:
You will proactively contribute to the team's roadmap.
You will work with engineers and data practitioners on improving our stack and data platform.
You will share your learnings and best practices within the team.
And beyond: the data team will continue growing with the company

Who are we looking for?
You're the right candidate if you:
Have had previous experiences as Data Analyst, ideally in scale-up environments (5-6 years)
Are seasoned working with SQL, dbt and data visualization tools
Are comfortable collaborating with Product and Engineering Managers, as well as Business partners, beyond the data team
Have a strong business acumen and are seen as a trusted partner by your business stakeholders
Have strong communication skills and are capable of articulating your ideas clearly
Have a do-er attitude and are comfortable with MVP approach
Are fluent in English - German is a plus
