Your Mission

As a Tech Lead Backend Engineer, you will drive backend initiatives, set architectural direction, and contribute to building a high-performing engineering culture. In this hands-on leadership role, you’ll balance deep technical execution with strategic planning and mentorship.

You’ll collaborate closely with engineers, product managers, and stakeholders to ensure backend systems align with business goals—while fostering a culture of quality, ownership, and continuous improvement.

• Lead Engineering Execution: Drive design and implementation of robust, scalable backend systems using modern technologies like Node.js, NestJS, and event-driven/serverless architecture.
• Define & Evolve Architecture: Own technical direction and system design across services, ensuring scalability, maintainability, and high availability.
• Mentor & Grow Engineers: Support team members through coaching, technical guidance, and regular feedback to help them grow and thrive.
• Set Engineering Standards: Champion best practices in coding, testing, documentation, observability, and deployment.
• Collaborate Across Functions: Partner with product, design, and other engineering teams to shape the roadmap and balance delivery speed with technical quality.
• Hands-on Development: Remain actively involved in coding, reviews, and technical problem solving while enabling others to succeed.

Your Profile

Technical Leadership

• 8+ years of backend development experience, with significant time spent designing systems and leading engineering efforts.
• Proven experience owning architecture and making high-impact technical decisions.
• Deep knowledge of JavaScript/TypeScript, Node.js, and microservice-based architectures.
• Experience working with event-based systems and cloud-native/serverless environments.
• Strong focus on performance, security, scalability, and operational excellence.

People & Process

• Experience mentoring engineers and helping them grow professionally.
• Strong collaboration skills — you're comfortable navigating trade-offs and building consensus across teams.
• You’ve led technical projects or squads, and are able to balance hands-on work with coordination responsibilities.
• Clear and concise communicator, both verbally and in writing.

Engineering Mindset

• Passion for craftsmanship and building robust, elegant systems.
• Champion of modern engineering practices: CI/CD, testing, observability, and continuous delivery.
• Pragmatic and strategic: you focus on long-term value without over-engineering.
