About the role
We are seeking an experienced Regional Compliance Manager with a strong focus on Regulatory Compliance & Risk Management and Compliance Training & Stakeholder Engagement to join our dynamic team. As an Regional Compliance Manager you will be working with the PH Local Teams and the broader Regional Legal & Compliance Team and play a crucial role in ensuring that all relevant regulations are complied with and any non-conformance or incidents are duly escalated and managed internally to continuously improve the corporate governance, regulatory, and reputational standing of Igloo.
Job Responsibilities
A. Regulatory Compliance
- Taking ownership of and leading the company-wide compliance activities and ensuring that the company’s stakeholders remain updated with the relevant laws and regulations. This will include:
- Anti-Money Laundering regulations
- Insurance laws & regulations
- Data Privacy regulations
- Other applicable regulations
- Be the point of contact with countries' regulators for regulatory / licensing related matters and provide guidance to the management team on how we remain compliant.
- Ensure the timely and complete submission of compliance-related reports to regulators, and obtain relevant evidence for any corresponding internal reporting.
- Supporting the general counsel to ensure the company’s governance, risk and compliance framework is continuously reviewed and enhanced in order to help the company scale.
B. Corporate Housekeeping and Legal Documentation
- Working closely with the legal team to ensure any contracts or documents entered with potential business partners, collaborators and third parties adhere to the relevant compliance regulations and requirements, and are accessible at all times for review.
- Ensure that the partnerships are consistent with the corresponding contracts, including amendments.
- Assists the Corporate Secretary and other relevant vendors in maintaining the company’s various official records and registration or accreditation with government agencies and other external parties
- Assists the Board of Directors in implementing corporate governance policies within the market.
- Assist in drafting legal letters or notices to external parties on behalf of the Company, as may be needed (e.g., Notice of Termination, Inquiry Letters, official responses to customers )
C. Compliance Policies, Training, and Development Program
- Leading employees’ training sessions on relevant legal and compliance matters for new joiners, as well as refresher training sessions for existing employees, including the preparation of training materials.
- Implementing and updating internal compliance policies, coupled with ongoing continuous review and update of those policies.
- Providing leadership and guidance to the compliance team consisting of compliance experts, and to grow the team as required.
- Recommending additional training to relevant stakeholders as needed to supplement the necessary skill set or functions as may be required to respond to the needs of the business.
D. Risk Management
- Continuously instilling awareness on the importance of compliance, ethics, and promoting professional behavior across all stakeholders, employees, and management personnel, including keeping abreast with emerging risks and recommendations to mitigate such risks.
- Advising on internal controls to improve compliance with policies and applicable regulations
- Working with cross-functional teams to provide a compliance assessment upon new product launches, and take ownership of ensuring compliance of existing and new products to help the company grow its business in compliance manner.
- Timely reporting to the General Counsel any company exposure, as may be necessary, including proposed resolutions
- Leading the know-your-customer due diligence process as may be required by partners, clients, and other third parties across our markets.
- Leading and monitoring the investigation, documentation, until the resolution of any incident that involves the Code of Conduct, breach of agreements, and any analogous cases that could result in regulatory or legal sanctions.
- Conducting gap assessment on certain projects, systems, and initiatives to advise internal stakeholders towards ensuring adherence with applicable regulations.
- Minimum 8 years of compliance experience in insurance industry and technology-oriented companies.
- Bachelor degree in law or business or other relevant qualifications
- Excellent communication skills
- Regional Asia-Pacific compliance experience
- Experience in compliance role in finance, insurance or any regulated industries
- Experience in anti-money laundering and combating financing terrorism, insurance, governance, risk and compliance areas.
- Updated training records on compliance regulations
- Certified by the Association of Certified Anti-Money Laundering Specialists.
- Preferably, having internal audit and risk mitigation experience and qualified as a data protection officer.
