Almentor is looking for an Academic Director to lead and manage the academic development of the Digital Egypt Cubs Initiative (DECI), one of the key national initiatives executed in collaboration with the Ministry of Communications and Information Technology in Egypt.

This role will be the main academic lead within almentor, responsible for ensuring that all learning content is developed, digitized, and maintained in line with the academic directions and standards set by the Ministry’s Academic Committee.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the development, digitization, and updating of academic content for the DECI Program.
  • Define and implement quality assurance mechanisms across all content development stages.
  • Manage collaboration with external partners and vendors, including their selection, contracts, and periodic evaluation.
  • Act as the primary liaison with the Ministry’s Academic Committee, ensuring alignment of content with national guidelines.
  • Prepare and present regular progress and quality reports to Almentor’s leadership and to the Ministry’s Academic Committee.

Qualifications:

  • At least master’s or PhD in Educational Technology, Educational Management, Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or a related field.
  • At least 10 years of proven experience in teaching, educational content development and delivery, educational courses planning, development and maintenance and/or e-learning programs design and development.
  • Strong background in managing external partners/vendors and working with governmental and/or academic institutions.
  • Deep knowledge of the digital content development lifecycle (development – digitization – maintenance).
  • Strong technical content writing and review skills.
  • Experience with digital content development for K-12 students is an asset.
  • Excellent command of English language (written and spoken).

Detailed job description

The Academic Director is responsible for leading and coordinating the development, digitization, and maintenance of all academic content for the DECI Program. This includes settig frameworks for content development, managing internal and external teams, ensuring quality assurance, and aligning with the directions of the Ministry’s Academic Committee.

Key Responsibilities

Academic Content Development

  • Establish frameworks for developing content internally (via Almentor’s media, design, instructional design teams) or externally (via specialized partners).
  • Define standards and workflows for developing and updating learning content.
  • Supervise and ensure content is continuously updated in line with technological and educational standards and trends.

Content Lifecycle Management

  • Oversee the transformation of content into digital learning materials.
  • Set academic review checkpoints across all stages: development – digitization – maintenance.
  • Ensure final outputs meet learning objectives and serve the target learners.

External Partners & Vendors

  • Define criteria for selecting and approving external content development partners.
  • Develop clear processes and agreements (timelines, deliverables, quality standards).
  • Monitor and evaluate partner performance periodically and provide improvement recommendations.

Coordination with the Ministry’s Academic Committee

  • Translate the committee’s directions into executable content development plans.
  • Provide regular progress and quality reports to the Academic Committee.
  • Represent Almentor in academic and official meetings with the Ministry.

Academic Quality Assurance

  • Develop and apply internal quality assurance frameworks.
  • Train internal teams to apply academic quality standards.
  • Conduct regular reviews to ensure compliance and continuous improvement.

Reporting & Monitoring

  • Prepare structured reports for Almentor’s senior management.
  • Deliver detailed reports to the Ministry’s Academic Committee covering achievements, challenges, and recommendations.

Reporting Line

  • Internally: Reports to Almentor’s senior leadership (Chief Business Officer).
  • Externally: Liaison with the Ministry’s Academic Committee.
