📈 Finance community at Alan

The Finance community conducts critical strategic, data and operational projects. There are 2 main areas within the finance community:

  • Finance & Strategy: (1) steers Alan’s financial performance through business planning, financial and operational monitoring, strategic explorations and implementation of high P&L impact initiatives; (2) communicates with Board & investors, notably on financing

  • Finance Operations: is in charge of building, automating and optimizing Alan's finance processes, producing and communicating financial data to various stakeholders, including the board, team, tax administrations, regulator (ACPR), as well as investment/liquidity management.

Both areas have Finance and Business profiles, and work closely in multiple instances, with some Alaners working across both areas. The main focus of the role is within the Finance & Strategy area.

⭐️ What you will do ⭐️

As a member of the Finance and Strategy team, your mission is to work closely with business teams and C-Level alaners to:

  • Build our business plan to exponentially increase Alan's enterprise value - profitable growth, margin expansion, cost efficiency. This includes deep-dives on go-to-market (product mix, targeted segments, sales resources), on pricing & margin steering, on resource allocation, and on levers to increase our operating leverage.

  • Monitor Alan’s financial and operational performance to understand the value drivers, the opportunities, adjustments to bring to our plan. This implies a strong link with Finance production to build and automate monthly deep-dives

  • Steer performance through framing and implementing high-impact initiatives (e.g. procurement tool, pricing) and driving some punctual explorations (e.g. M&A, transformative partnerships, competitive intelligence)

  • Contribute to our investors relations and financing. This includes preparing Board meetings, fundraising, external communications.

To support the above, you will build, improve, maintain best-in-class tools for financial planning and performance monitoring, hand-in-hand with the Data, Business and Finance teams. This includes BP, monitoring dashboards, selection and implementation of third party tools where relevant.

You will also work closely with the Finance Operations teams, notably to produce and interpret our monthly financial performance, and on specific projects.

⚙️ Qualifications ⚙️

Must have

  • +2y experience in Management consulting or Investment Banking

  • Excellence in Financial modelling, Excel

  • Excellent fluency in both English and French. English is the primary language of communication within the company; French is required given multiple interactions with French-speaking counterparts.

  • Excellent written and oral communication

  • Deep rigor, structure, appetite for problem-solving,

  • Passion and interest for Finance processes and financial data

  • Passion/strong interest for getting close to other teams, to understand the operational details of their work and support them

    • Business (Sales, Operations, Insurance)

    • Data (support in defining metrics to build & monitor)

  • Experience in working with C-Levels

  • Being hands on: with our distributed ownership culture, you will drive projects end-to-end, from framing to building/implementing the tools, and communication

  • Thrive in exciting, high-intensity environment

Nice to have

  • Experience in Scale-up, SaaS, Insurance companies

  • SQL fluency (we use it regularly and would need to ramp-up on the basics otherwise!)

  • Accounting knowledge
